STEP – 1
- Visit the official website of Unique Identification Authority of India or UIDAI here at: https://resident.uidai.gov.in/find-uid-eid.
- Click on either “Enrolment No” (EID) or “Aadhaar No” (UID) based on your requirement.
- Provide all the necessary information such as name, UID registered mobile number and email address.
- Fill in the security code that you will find right beside the box.
- Click on the button that says “Get OTP.”
- You will receive an OTP or one-time password on your registered mobile number or your registered email address.
- You will need to input the one-time password and click on the button that says “verify OTP.”
- Once your OTP is verified, you will receive the Enrolment or Aadhaar number through a text message on your mobile number.
STEP – 2
- After receiving your Enrolment ID or Aadhaar number, you need to visit the page https://eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/ where you will need to select your UID (Aadhaar number) or EID (Enrolment ID).
- Fill in the form by providing your Enrolment ID or Aadhaar number, pin code, full name, mobile number, and security text.
- After that, you will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number.
- You will need to input the password in the “Enter OTP” tab. Then click on the “Validate and Download” option.
- Your duplicate Aadhaar copy will start downloading as a PDF file.
- You can take a print out of this PDF and get it laminated as your new Aadhaar card.
Using the steps mentioned above, you can easily get a duplicate copy of your Aadhaar card. However, if you are not as tech-savvy as your millennial counterparts, and would rather like a more traditional way of doing it, there is an offline method as well.
Getting a Copy of Aadhaar Card Offline
The traditional approach to getting a duplicate copy of your Aadhaar card will require you to visit your nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Centre. You may also call 1947, which is the official toll-free number of Unique Identification Authority of India, and request for the duplicate Aadhaar copy. For this, you need to take following steps:
- Call 1947 or 1800-180-1947, both of which are the toll-free number provided by UIDAI.
- You need to carefully follow the IVR options and choose the one that allows you to talk to an Aadhaar executive.
- You need to discuss your requirement with the executive and request a copy of your Aadhaar card.
- The executive will verify your identity by asking you a series of questions, which you need to answer properly.
- After verifying your identity and accepting your request for the duplicate Aadhaar copy, the executive will initiate the process.
Once the process is completed, the copy of your Aadhaar card will be sent to your residential address.
If both these methods seem too cumbersome to you, you may choose to visit your nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Centre and request for the copy. Here, you will have to first fill out the “Aadhaar Correction” form. If you do not know your Aadhaar or enrolment number, the executive will need to verify your biometric data and file the application for a duplicate copy. After the completion of the process, the Aadhaar copy will be sent to your residential address.
