What are the different PAN card application forms?

Form 49A – Structure and component
When filling out form 49A, you need to provide personal details such as name, contact details, and address along with signature and photograph. You need to fill out the first two pages. AO or Assessing Officer Code:
This is the very first section that you need to fill out, and it contains space for AO Number, Range Code, AO Type and Area Code. If you do not know what to put here, you can easily find the required information on the official website of NSDL.
Here, you need to provide your full name after selecting the appropriate title from Ms., Mrs., or Mr. Make sure you write the correct spelling of your name.
Abbreviation of your name:
Your PAN card will also have an abbreviation of your name, and you need to specify it in this section. It would be wise to use the same name that you have on all other official documents.
This section will ask you if you have ever been known by some other name. If you have, you need to check “yes” and proceed to provide the details below. If not, you can simply check “no.”
You need to select between “male” and “female.”
Date of birth/Agreement/Incorporation/Partnership or Trust Deed…:
If you are applying for a PAN card for an individual, you need to put the date of birth. However, if the PAN application is for a business or an entity, you need to put the relevant date as specified in the form.
Details of parents:
This area is only applicable for individuals and not for businesses or entities.

The remaining areas of the form include registration number (only applicable to LLPs and companies), Aadhaar number, income source, RA (Representative Assessee), AND POA/POI/proof of DOB. Form 49AA – Structure and component
The basic format and structure of the form 49AA are similar to that of form 49A with a few differences. In case of form 49A, you need to provide your KYC Details. As per the regulations of SEBI or Securities and Exchange Board of India, you need to be a Qualified Foreign Investor or a Foreign Institutional Investor to fill this form.
Individuals need to provide details related to:
- Citizenship status
- Marital status
- Details related to occupation (public/Govt. Sector, private sector, professional, business, retired, student, housewife or others)
Non-individuals need to provide details related to:
- Type of company (public company, private company, financial institution, body corporate, charitable organization or government organization)
- Gross Annual Income in Indian Rupee or INR
- Net-worth in INR
- Whether the entity is involved with or provides services related to money changer services, foreign exchange, gambling/gaming/lottery services, pawning or money lending.
- Taxpayer identification number (in the nation of residence)
