PAN (Permanent Account Number) Card is a distinctive 10 – digit alphanumeric personal identity document issued by the Income Tax Department of India. PAN Card Status By Name And Date Of Birth (DOB)

Finding your PAN card number or PAN details by name and date of birth is fairly simple. You can follow the steps mentioned below to track your PAN Card status using only name and Date of birth. This method is an optimum choice if you are aware of your PAN number or Coupon Number.

  1. Log on to the e-Filing Income-Tax Department website and click on the ‘Know Your PAN’ option, which is the 9th link under the Quick Links section. (or) directly visit Know Your PAN portal
  2. Once you click Know your PAN, you are redirected to a page which asks for multiple details. Entering the details which include your
    1. Surname(mandatory)
    2. Middle Name
    3. First Name
    4. Status* (mandatory)
    5. Gender
    6. Date of Birth (DOB) (mandatory) (Please note that you enter your DOB in DD/MM/YYYY format)
    7. Mobile Number
  3. Also, please make sure that you fill all your details correctly. Once you fill your details, click on submit, on which the page will redirect you to another page asking for an OTP.
  4. Furthermore, you will receive an OTP on the mobile number and you will have only three chances to type the correct OTP.
  5. Once you input the OTP, you can track the PAN card details.

The Pan Card Status* category section includes

  1. Individual
  2. Association of Person
  3. Body of Individuals
  4. Company
  5. Trust
  6. Limited Liability Partnership

Please select the Individual option If you are just an individual Indian Citizen (not a company or an association).

One of the advantages of tracking your PAN card status with Name and Date of Birth is that there is no need for you to have any knowledge of your PAN number of Coupon number. This method can be followed even if you have or do not have your PAN (or) Coupon number.

Methods to Check / Track PAN Card Status:

There are methods other than by name and DOB to check/track your PAN Card status. However, these methods require you to have knowledge of your Coupon (Acknowledgement) Number. In case you are in possession of any of the above details, you can follow the steps mentioned below to track PAN card status.

Track UTI/NSDL PAN Card Status by Acknowledgement/Coupon Number:

Acknowledgment/Coupon number is the 15-digit number you receive either on your mail(online application) or on a hard copy(offline application) when you apply for a PAN Card.

You can follow the steps mentioned below to check PAN Card status using Acknowledgement number.

  • Log on to the official NSDL website.
    [**Caution: There are other fake websites which also accept your PAN number. These are not official Income Tax sources. Also, you might be prone to data theft if you type in your details at the said sites. Please be careful to input your details only in secured and official Government sites**]
  • You will now find details pertaining to your
    • Application Type (Please select the PAN New/Change Request)
      • PAN New/Change Request
      • TAN New/Change Request
    • Type in your acknowledgment number. Upon typing, type the security code in its respective section. You have the provision to request a new code in case you are unclear with the current one. Please click on the refresh button to get a new code.
    • Upon entering the code, click on submit, upon which you can track your PAN Card status.

How to apply for a Duplicate PAN Card:

PAN Card is one of the essential identity cards for employees and associations due to the various financial services linked to it. Owing to the cards high requirements for multiple services, your PAN card is often susceptible to theft or loss including physical damage.  This article aims at guiding people on applying for a duplicate/new PAN card with the same old PAN number. You can follow the steps mentioned below to apply for a duplicate PAN card.

  1. Visit the official website of TIN-NSDL. 
  2. You have to now select the type of PAN you require. For a Duplicate PAN, select the option/category titled ‘Reprint PAN /Changes or Corrections in existing PAN Data’ on the homepage.
  3. Upon selecting the option, decide the category you want the Duplicate PAN for. You will find multiple categories in the options.
  4. Please select the Individual option, if you are a citizen(employee) and not a company or association.
  5. You will then have to fill details pertaining to your personal info which includes
    1. Your title (whether you are a girl or boy or a married person) (mandatory)
    2. Last Name/Surname (as specified in your previous PAN card. (The same spelling and format)) (mandatory)
    3. Middle Name
    4. First Name
    5. Date of Birth/Incorporation (for companies)/Date of Formation (for companies or associations).
      Please type DOB in (DD/MM/YYYY), i.e. date/month/year.
    6. Mobile Number (as specified in your previous PAN card) (mandatory)
    7. Email ID (as specified in your previous PAN card) (mandatory)
  6. Once you fill in all the details, including your citizenship and PAN number, type in the security code. You have the provision for generating a different code in case you are not clear with the current one. Please click the refresh button for a new code.
